OurNet: Thank you Harun for taking the time to talk to us and being one of the ‘folks for a world that works’, can you begin by telling us about yourself and your big passion?
Harun: Since a young age, I’ve always had to grow and evolve beyond my current status. This included growing up from a background of poverty and racial tension into one that was abundant and harmonious. So my life’s work inevitably became about helping others grow and evolve. My biggest passion is to help those who have ambitions and aspirations to become much more influential and impactful in their own life’s passion. So I do this as a writer, speaker and coach. My other BIG passion is continuing to be the best Dad I can be to my sons.
OurNet: What would a ‘world that works’ look like to you?
Harun: In general, I think the world is working. It’s been here billions of years and will continue to be billions more. It’s us – the humans – who are messed up. So a world that works for humans in the long run will be one where children are raised in a healthy, harmonious and loving environment. If all children were raised in such a way, we would have far less misery amongst adults later on. When a child’s early years are messed up, their adult lives become a reflection of those formative years. By addressing the early years, the rest of life takes care of itself.
OurNet: What is stopping us from creating a ‘beautiful world we all know in our hearts is possible’?
Harun: The biggest reason is fear. We are afraid of what we are capable of and, therefore, avoid paying attention to that. Why? Because deep in most people’s psyche they believe they are not good enough. How do we change that? Pluck up the courage to do one thing positively different everyday. Work from where you are at in your life. If everybody improved their life just 1/3rd of 1% a day, we would all change 100% in less than a year. The cumulative results of us ALL changing will be exponential.
